I have 4 children. Ages 11 - 1. I homeschool grades 5, 2, and pre-k. My husband and I choose to homeschool for more than one reason. 1. We feel that if we send our child to school (whether that be public or private), many character building opportunities would be lost. If our children display selfishness while away at school, it more than likely will not be noticed or addressed. However, homeschooling allows us to be more involved with our children 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Quality character building is more important than having peace and quiet 8 hours a day while the children are away. 2. The safety of our children is important to us. Not just from shootings (although with the recent news coverage this is high on the list), also from sexual predators (it is becoming more and more common in public schools), bullying, and peer pressure. 3. Academic success is important. Although there are many great teachers in public schools, too many children are falling between the cracks or are being labeled because the system clearly has no time for out of the box thinking. In the state we live in it is required that homeschooled children take the state tests at certain specific grade levels. Our oldest recently had the highest score in the school in which she tested. She was a 4th grader at the time.. she scored higher than any of the 12th graders. Enough said. ;)

Thanks in advance!
